While Telegram want to form secure alternative to email and instant messenger. Signal is funded through grants and donations by different organisations such as Freedom of Press Foundation, Knight Foundation, Shuttleworth Foundation, Open Technology Fund etc. WhatsApp, Telegram Secure Chat, Allo Secure Chat, fb Messenger Secure Chat is based on Open Whispers Platform. Fourth and most important reason is their commitment to privacy. Telegram and Signal both mention explicitly in their Privacy Policy that they don’t share any personal\ non personal information with third-party. Third reason is, there is end to end encryption for chat. Second reason is both these apps are open source. First reason is both these messengers have sound funding mechanism.
